Counselling and Art Therapy services

I’m Carolyn Tucker — a Masters-trained Art Therapist, Clinically Registered Counsellor, and Supervisor based in Warrandyte. I’m passionate about supporting both children and adults to strengthen emotional regulation, build confidence, and reconnect with their innate creativity and resilience. My approach is grounded in warmth, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique story. As both a therapist and a parent with a child who experienced early developmental and sensory challenges, I’ve learned that safety and connection are the foundation for growth — and that creativity can be a powerful pathway to healing and understanding.

My work is informed by more than 15 years of experience across diverse settings — including the family violence sector, Primary and Secondary schools , community health, and allied health teams. Previously, as Senior Art Therapist and Team Leader I supervised practitioners and developed programs that supported children, families, and adults living with trauma, disability, anxiety, and neurodivergence.

In my practice, I use a sensory, body-centered approach that begins with creative engagement rather than words alone. This approach helps regulate the nervous system, integrate emotional experiences, and support personal insight and growth. Whether working with a child learning to manage big feelings, or an adult navigating grief, stress, or life transitions, I aim to create a safe, supportive space where creativity becomes a tool for connection, empowerment, and transformation.

At The Studio, I offer individual sessions, small group programs, and parent support designed to nurture emotional wellbeing and connection through the creative process. My hope is that each person who steps into the space feels seen, valued, and supported to explore their own capacity for healing and change.

What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative expression—such as painting, clay work, writing, or movement—to explore emotions, gain personal insight, and support self-acceptance. Through a collaborative and supportive process, Art Therapy helps individuals create meaningful pathways forward, aligned with their values and desired ways of living.

The strength of Art Therapy lies in its ability to access emotions and experiences that may be difficult to express through words alone. Creativity becomes a language through which meaning is discovered and healing begins.

Do I Need to Be Creative?

No artistic experience or skills are necessary. Art Therapy is about the process, not the final product. Sessions are tailored to suit individual or group needs and can support:

  • Emotional expression

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Existential exploration

  • Awareness of behaviour patterns

  • Skill building and personal growth

Whether you're seeking insight, healing, or simply a new way to explore your inner world, Art Therapy offers a safe and enriching space to do so.
